  • Modified surface wettability through thin-film coatings, oxygen plasma cleaning, and surface characterization to develop patterned surfaces for controlled liquid motion.

  • Measured advancing and receding contact angles using a goniometer and analyzed surface energy interactions using the van Oss–Chaudhury–Good method.

  • Studied how polar and non-polar liquids respond differently to patterned wettability, with applications in passive droplet transport, coatings, and interfacial phenomena.

Lunar Rover Mechanical Lead, August 2024 – May 2025

  • Led mechanical development for a lunar rover robotic arm system focused on integration, drilling, and sample collection.

  • Performed arm torque calculations, selected NEMA 23 and NEMA 17 stepper motors with high-reduction gearboxes, and supported motor testing using a pony brake dynamometer.

  • Designed and iterated CAD models, 3D-printed housings, arm mounts, and mechanical interfaces to retrofit an inherited rover system for the ODEK Engineering Showcase.

Bubble CPAP Monitor, August 2024 - December 2024

  • Developed a low-cost pressure monitoring and alarm system for bubble CPAP devices to alert caregivers when neonates may not be receiving effective respiratory support.

  • Tested ultrasonic, infrared, piezoelectric, and pressure sensor approaches using oscilloscope data collection and MATLAB FFT analysis.

  • Built and iterated prototype housings, sensor attachments, LED alarm indicators, and wiring using 3D printing, laser etching, milling, and breadboard electronics.

Multibody Dynamics Simulation of a Soccer Kick, April 2025

  • Built a multibody dynamics model of a soccer kicking motion using MotionGenesis and MATLAB, including rigid bodies, joint coordinates, applied torques, and kinematic constraints.

  • Used experimental joint-angle data to perform inverse dynamics, estimate hip and knee torques, and run a forward dynamics simulation with ODE45.

  • Validated model performance using R² fit metrics and a mechanical energy check.

Custom DC Motor, January 2026

  • Prototyped, fabricated, and tested key components of a custom series-wound DC motor, including the commutator, brushes, brush holder, housing, magnet holders, and winding.

  • Created a SolidWorks assembly to validate component fit and support fabrication planning.

  • Achieved a maximum speed of 5122 RPM and a measured stall torque of approximately 0.0005 N·m.

Structural Design and Analysis of a Trim Weight System for an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle, April 2026

  • Designed and analyzed an active pitch system that translates a 920 kg battery sled inside an autonomous underwater vehicle to control pitch attitude.

  • Modeled the system in SolidWorks and evaluated the ball screw, guide rails, two-stage spur gearbox, shafts, bearings, fasteners, and support structure.

  • Used calculations and SolidWorks FEA to validate drivetrain sizing, shaft strength, bearing life, buckling resistance, fatigue behavior, and global structural stiffness.

Analog and Digital Control of an Inverted Pendulum, February 2026 - April 2026

  • Designed and tested analog and digital feedback controllers for an inverted pendulum system using sensor conditioning, DAQ hardware, and real-time control implementation.

  • Tuned PD control gains to evaluate damping ratio, natural frequency, settling time, and system stability.

  • Used MATLAB and experimental data to compare measured responses against target control performance.
